Predicting Fraud: Real-Time Money Laundering Prediction Using Machine Learning

Real-time fraud detection for mobile money transfer service in Kenya using Gradient Boosting Machine Learning Model with scikit-learn.

This project involved developing a real-time fraud detection system on a FinTech company's data for mobile money transfer service in Kenya, using machine learning techniques. The project utilized the Gradient Boosting model from the scikit-learn Python library for the highest performance. The final model was recommended to be deployed with a threshold of 0.6, which achieved a 40% higher profit than the baseline model. Additionally, the fraud detection costs were reduced by 42%. The project also focused on addressing both technical and ethical issues in the development and deployment of the model.

Social Network Analysis on Twitter data using web scraping, data analysis, and visualization techniques. REST API and JSON were deployed with Python libraries, and the project showcased expertise in data wrangling, network analysis, and visualization.

Employed Pandas and Numpy Python libraries for data wrangling and manipulation, and performed exploratory data analysis using Matplotlib libraries. Demonstrated proficiency in network analysis, including homophily, E-I Index, party-level connections, reciprocity, and preferential attachment, and used Gephi to explore complex relationships between parliament members on Twitter.

In this project, I demonstrated my skills in Azure Active Directory administration by deploying an Azure SQL database and integrating it with Power BI. After performing data analysis in I published the reports in the Power BI workspace and assigned web publishing access which allowed me to publish them on an HTML web page. In addition, I assigned various roles and access permissions to users in the Azure Admin portal, enabling authorisation control based on role levels within the organisation.This project showcased my skills in Azure AD administration, Azure SQL deployment, Power BI reports, and web embedding, which I can leverage in future projects.
